Crowns There are many conditions that a crown may be the optimum restoration for a tooth that can't be repaired with a filling material. These reasons can include bruxism(teeth grinding), general decay, cracked fillings, root canals, and many others. A crown will restore a badly damaged tooth and provide durability, enhanced cosmetic appearance, and overall support of the chewing function. Procedure There are two different procedures that we offer in our practice. Our most popular is the single day crown. Our patients love having the peace of mind knowing that they don't have to take off another day of work or having to come back to cement the crown in. The procedure begins with proper preparation of the tooth. Then a digital impression of the tooth is captured on a computer with a laser camera. Using CAD/CAM technology, the restoration will be created before your eyes, then milled here in the office. The precision of the technology ensures that the new tooth feels exactly like one of your natural teeth. Best of all, our CAD/CAM equipment is made in the USA!! Our patients prefer to have a single day crown when possible, but there are times when a lab fabricated crown is the best option. The same high quality restoration is created and we see our patients for a return visit to have the crown cemented in. The type of restoration that you need will determine on what option is best for you.
